Day 9: SBC Fair Concludes, but SBC Fairgrounds Remain Poppin!

Yes, it is sad, but it is true...the SBC Fair has concluded until we meet again in 2010! Congratulations to Teresa, who won the Surround Sound System sponsored by Midway for being on our Text Message List. Teresa received free updates about the latest discounts and info for the Fair along with this drawing on the last day for the Surround Sound System!

BUT, you can still go to the Fairgrounds as we host many other events throughout the year that the public can take advantage of and if you have an event that you would like to hold at the Fairgrounds, it doesn't matter if it's a family picnic, an Organization's National get-together or a circus...we'd love to host you!!! We would like to thank the Dairy Council of California for bringing their Mobile Classroom to the Fair so that our patrons could see a cow get milked and learn about the process.

Day 8: Unbelievable Deal Tomorrow!

For just $2, anyone can get into the Fair until 2PM tomorrow! We are celebrating having such a great Fair and we want you to be able to have been a part of it more than once, so get to the Fair by 2PM tomorrow so you can only pay $2 to get in!!!

Day 5: Oh NO, We're Running Out of Fair Days!

We made it over the HUMP today, so you better hurry on over to the SBC Fair if you haven't already done so! Congratulations to Stephen and Cheri (pictured above), they won a Back Stage Meet & Greet and a Front Row Seat to Gretchen Wilson today!!!

Day 4: Bret Michaels' Behind the Scenes Duet

Well, I can tell by looking at the Fair's Facebook and Twitter that quite a few of you attended Bret Michaels at the San Bernardino County Fair last night, but did you know that Bret had a duet going on!!??!! Nancy Kobert of Kobert Animal Productions performs on the Kids Kountry Stage nightly during the Fair with her comedy bird show (pictured above). Nancy had this to say about the concert last night, "Lola, the singing parrot got to sing with Bret Michaels! (well sort of... we were on the Kids Kountry Stage doing our funny birds show and his band was playing on the main stage - we could hear the band and Lola just started riffin' on key! I love her! Come see her at 8:00 nightly on the Kids Kountry Stage!" Below is Nancy when she appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Day 1 of Green Acres

Duh duh duh duh duh....duh duh! Green Acres at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds was THE place to be Today!!! Fair attendees enjoyed lots of great food, carnival and entertainment of all sorts throughout the day. We kicked it off by allowing those who brought a TV to recycle to get FREE parking from Noon-3PM. We also offered FREE admission to the Fair to ALL teachers for teacher appreciation this week. Entertainment is endless, from the Amazing Harmonatras singing a special Fair edition of Green Acres at the gates when you arrive, to the clown humor at the gate, a talking pig who gives green tips (Jethro P Hogg pictured above), talking parrots, a circus (Russell Bros Circus pictured below), rainforest and science exhibits in the Kids Kountry area, a turkey stampede, hypnotist, bands and more! The Wild West Turkey Stampede is debuting their Midget Racing right here at the SBC Fair this year with a new racing team of 12 baby Midget White Turkeys. Food and Commercial vendors are endless, already have enjoyed a corn dog, sopes and a lemonade myself.

Fair Officials Address Influenza H1N1 and Steps to Prevent it during Fair Time

With the recent news and misconceptions about the human infection of the Influenza A Virus subtype H1N1, officials at the upcoming San Bernardino County Fair have released a number of safety steps that will ensure the protection of all fair patrons at the fairgrounds from May 9th through 17th.

“Many people are misinformed and have become concerned with the presence of livestock, especially pigs, at our fair,” event CEO Ken Alstott explained. “We see this as a great chance to educate our fair patrons as well as the public in general.”

Alstott said the 2009 San Bernardino County Fair will take many extra steps to ensure the health of attendees. “Now is the time to be diligent, to be careful. That said, there is no need for alarm."

The list of steps the fair will take include, but are not limited to:

***Require that animals are vaccinated. Pigs will be required to have the latest vaccinations to combat H1N1.

***A licensed state veterinarian will be on site at all times.

***To ensure hygiene, the fair will increase by three times the number of their cleaning crews. Crews have been instructed to wipe and clean objects that are likely to human touch.

*** The fair will increase to 34 stations of Purell hand sanitizers around livestock, fair rides, concert areas and any other areas that will require human touch.


***As elementary as it is, the fair will also increase signage alerting patrons to wash their hands, cover their mouths while sneezing and, overall, keeping exemplary hygiene.

Alstott said that during fair time, officials are ready to adapt to meet any challenge the virus might present. “We are ready to have one of the best fairs in the history of San Bernardino County! With a few extra steps to ensure hygiene, I think our patrons will experience a wonderful time.” said Alstott. “Everyone’s safety is priority number one for us. We owe ourselves to our patrons and our goal is to deliver lots of family fun in a safe environment.”

Educational School Tour Signups

The San Bernardino County Fair is offering school tours during the day (when the Fair is not open to the public) as an educational outing for kindergarten through grade 5. On Tuesday, May 12, Wednesday, May 13; and Thursday, May 14; self guided tours will run from 9am until 1:00pm. You will be able to tour different areas of the Fair and enjoy some short shows and informational talks throughout the grounds, with question and answer time for students.
